Today I have two very different news stories to share; the one is brief, but important, so I just matched it up with the other story I planned on running. For the first one: wdwinfo.com has the scoop that applications are now being accepted for the 2012 class of the Disney Dreamers Academy. A quick refresher into the Disney Dreamers Academy: it’s a joint venture by Disney World, actor/writer/comedian Steve Harvey, and Essence Magazine to promote youth education. Cheap Summer Movies

When we moved to Texas there was a movie theater we went to more than others. It had a mommy and me program that I couldn’t wait to take part in. The theater changed owners and the mommy and me program stopped before we got our first foster placement. I was disappointed. What better way to go to a movie with children than at a theater filled with other moms with their children. Every summer the area foster parents go see a sponsored movie. The first year we went we saw Ice Age 3: Attack of the Dinosaurs. The movie … Continue reading

The Economy and Airfare

The good news is that the economy is recovering after free falling into a recession. The bad news is that airlines are now jacking up their prices due to the economic recovery. So what does that mean for leisure travelers? Expect to dig deep for domestic flights this fall and winter. Or, in simpler terms, your Thanksgiving or Christmas flights home are going to cost you a ton. Walt Disney Corporate’s certainly busy buying up companies lately.
