Great Deal at Kohl's for Girls

My daughter's birthday is this week, and she'll be turning three. We have been racking our brains trying to decide what to give her for a gift. My oldest son wanted to buy her one of those new Rose Petal Cottages, but we vetoed that idea. For one, I haven't come across any great deals on this hot toy, or the accessories you need to purchase in addition to the toy.

Still, we wanted to get her something, so we decided to ask her what she wanted and then take her on a shopping trip. It turns out that she really wasn't interested in toys after all, but instead wanted dresses. That made it pretty easy, since a friend recommended Kohl's for their selection of little girl dresses. I have been having a hard time finding nice dresses that aren't too short, too revealing, or have messages or designs on them that we consider inappropriate for her age.

So, off we went to Kohls. You might think that we probably should have waited until Friday, but a girl has to have her dresses. And, I was pleasantly surprised by the deal available on the signs: 40 percent of of all fall and winter girl's dresses. This included sizes for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and girls. There were some really nice dresses, including holiday dresses and character dresses.

But that wasn't the real deal. When we brought our purchases to the cash register, we found out that the dresses would ring up for 60 to 70 percent off! We only purchased five yesterday, but we are seriously thinking of going back for more. Not only can we give our little princess a wardrobe that she loves, but we could grab up some bargains for Christmas presents to the nieces. To sweeten the dress deal, all girls tights were on sale for 40 percent.

My daughter wanted one of those Rose Petal cottages too. I saw them today at Wal-Mart the price was reduced from $88 to $66--the cottage and the stove are included in the price. The chair, sink , etc. were on sale for between $22-$44. But, she already has a playhouse and the Fisher-Price talking kitchen so she's not getting the cottage too. I'm sure if she hadn't seen it advertised on TV she wouldn't have said she wanted it. Nice of your boys to think of their little sister though.

Thanks for the info on the Walmart price. On the commercials they show all of the accessories, and they really add up, don't they? I think we may get her a nice wooden kitchen to play with instead. We'll add in the food and still spend about $60 total.
