Usually I do my shopping list well in advance of the grocery sales, but I have to confess that I am running behind this week. I saved my list until the possible last minute almost, or at least the last day. That is because most grocery store sales start on Sunday, so if I want to hit this week's sale, I have to do it today. To get the best deals, I combine the loss leader sales, those items that the grocery store may lose money on just to get you in the store, with available coupons. And it just so happened that I found this deal on Penn Maid Sour Cream that will result in a price of zero. This week, Giant is offering a 10 for $10 sale on many items. Check with your store, but most stores don't require you to buy 10 products, they just count each product as $1 no matter how many you buy. This is what all of the Giant stores that I have been to do. Penn Maid Sour Cream is one of those items. You can get the eight ounce size for $1. Combine that sale with the a coupon, and you will have the sour cream for free. The coupon appears in the September 9th edition of the coupon inserts, in the Valassis section and is $.50 off of one Penn Maid Cottage Cheese or Sour Cream. Giant doubles its coupons in most areas, bringing that $.50 off to $1 off of the $1 price. I hope you can take advantage of this deal. Besides being used to make dips or as a condiment, sour cream has all sorts of uses in baking and cooking. I plan on using mine in a coffee cake and in a crock pot dish. I know that not everyone has a Giant store in their area, but check back to this blog often as we scout out the deals as they become available.
