Clothes for Our Baby Girl

Baby clothes are a major point of excitement during pregnancy. Having a few outfits in the closet make the much anticipated arrival of the baby even more real. With my first pregnancy I was thrown two baby showers; one by my coworkers and the other by my sisters. Now that we are having a girl, most of the “baby boy” clothes that I received from friends and families simply will not work for a baby girl (especially the outfits that say “Thank Heaven for Little Boys”). Several weeks ago I decided to organized the baby clothes that our son had … Continue reading

Buying Clothes for Your Toddler

This past week I went shopping for some new clothes for my toddler. He recently went through a growth spurt and half of the items in his closet no longer fit. I always buy clothes that are a little big and he wears them until they are a little small. He had a closet full of 12 month clothes and a small selection of 18 month clothes. I bought him quite a few 2T clothes and a small selection of 3T for him to grow into. There is a trick to buying big. You have to find clothes that can … Continue reading

Practical Clothes Shopping

About a week ago I had to opportunity to go out shopping with a good friend. Her mission was to get me out of my standard uniform of jeans, tops and sneakers and into something with more style. The rules were that I was not allowed to buy anything black it’s classic), and I was not allowed to buy socks. You see, my practicality being what it is, socks are infinitely useful. Besides being worn on the feet, once they become worn out, they can still be used for many other things. Plus, it is rare to find new socks … Continue reading

Inexpensive gently used clothing is easy to find for the littlest set, but once a kid gets past the age of four or five, the hunt becomes a real challenge. Here are some places you can use to cloth your children with inexpensive clothing for slightly older kids. As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, finding good quality second hand clothing gets more difficult as kids get older. There is simply not a good inventory available. You can still do pretty well, though, if you check out the following sources. The outlets Outlets can sometimes yield great finds in new clothing. … Continue reading

K-Mart Extra 30% Off Clearance +Coupon

The K-Mart in our area is probably on the bottom of the chain’s evaluation list. Their employees are clueless and the store isn’t very clean. It’s bad enough that I won’t even take the mystery shop there. I don’t remember it being that way when I was growing up. K-Mart was a great place to get school supplies, bicycles, and even clothes. We loved taking our allowances there and getting the latest CD, little toys, and other accouterments of childhood. The “Blue Light Special” was a good thing then. If the K-Mart in your area is still nice, here’s a … Continue reading

Kohl’s is having their “Biggest Gold Star Clearance” sale. Items in their clearance section are 60% to 80% off the original price. I think this sale lasts until they run out of clearance items. Spending Time With My Sister Part II

On day two of our visit we awoke fairly early (probably due to the time difference) and I, of course, was starving. I had brought a cooler full of food with us, particularly breakfast food items for my daily three egg omelet. It was not apparent yet that my sister and her husband were awake yet so I prepared breakfast for my son and I during which our hosts awoke with their baby daughter! While my son and I ate our breakfast, the baby also had her breakfast and my sister’s husband made breakfast for the two of them. The … Continue reading

Shopping at Consignment

Almost as soon as we found out that we are having a girl, I began thinking pink. It seems that there are always a far wider selection of little girl’s clothing compared to little boy’s clothing and the little girl’s clothing is far more enticing with it’s frills and flounces. Before now I never really had a reason to actually look at baby girl clothing; I would go straight to the little boy’s clearance items. But now I have a reason and it is really hard not to at least look every time I go “window” shopping. The baby girl … Continue reading
