Stocking up on Office Supplies

When people think of “stocking up” during time of economic uncertainty, they often think in terms of food and basic household staples. If you are into preparing for the future or getting good prices by buying things in bulk, you might consider applying the same strategy to your home business. Recently, I purchased several ink cartridges for my computer printer. I decided to stock up and purchase a few of each color so that I could get a discount and would have a goodly supply. Don’t Overlook Second-hand for Business Supplies

I have written a little about the purchasing of equipment and supplies for our home businesses–including how to budget in for the expenses and discern the value of purchases to the business operations, but I realized I had never talked about how everything we purchase for our home businesses does not have to be brand new–for home businesses on a budget, refurbished and second-hand can be a great way to go. I like to go in there just to comparison shop. They have the best clearance deals because the local manager doesn’t like to carry excess inventory. The day after Christmas, their gourmet (not the cheapie) popcorn was marked down to a buck and change. Sometimes I find nothing, but other times it’s well worth the extra hundred yards. Because Staples gives me a good reward check, I haven’t … Continue reading
