Bowling for Dollars...er, Feminine Protection

Men might want to head on over to a blog a little more manly about now.

Gone? Good. This one is for the ladies. Ditties is a maker of feminine products. They market to the young and sassy, but I figure I'm middle-aged and brash, so close enough. Right now, you can get a free pack of their items by "Bowling for Tampons". Yeah, I know, sounds pretty strange. It's actually a lot of fun. The pins have been replaced by, yep, you guessed it. But you wouldn't know it if you didn't know it. My 12-year-old son thought it was a great game. Of course, I didn't tell him anything about it!

If you score 150 or higher, they'll mail you a free package of feminine protection. Score a perfect game and get entered into a free drawing for a pink iPod Nano. I'm all for free. I did a lot better at this game than at bowling on the Wii. Once you find the sweet spot, just bowl over and over from there. After a few tries, I got the perfect 300 game. You get to choose your bowler and your ball. Each bowler has different attributes and therefore bowls differently. I bowled with Simone throwing the pink ball. Her sweet spot is way to the right, on the blonde strip between the two darker ones.

I like Ditties' approach. It's matter-of-fact. We're a very modest household, but there's something about homeschooled girls. They don't catch that this is something not to be discussed in front of their dad or brothers. I know it's not just mine. When I was a teenager, I would have died of embarrassment for my brothers to have had any clue why I was grouchy. Yet here I am, a couple of decades later, bowling for tampons! Anything for an iPod?
