Amazon Mom

Amazon.com is the best online shopping stop. You can buy almost everything there and the prices are good. The user reviews are worthwhile and helpful. I have rethought my buying choices based on reviews on the site. You can create lists to remember things that you want to get. I have a list dedicated to books on parenting that I want to look into. I am the parent of a very strong-willed toddler and need good ideas on what to do. I have lists for each of the girls so I can keep tabs on things I want to get … Continue reading

Organic and Soy Milk Deals at Amazon

When we were kids, we went through milk like crazy. I remember my uncle having to go down in the morning to the dairy and again in the evening again because we’d already downed the two gallons from the morning. Of course, we had many, many children at home drinking it, and the milk was fresh from the local farms. It tasted much different then than the ultra-pasteurized and stored in plastic stuff that’s available in today’s grocery stores. We moved to Japan a few years ago and the only thing available that was considered “safe” by the local base … Continue reading

$25 off $49 ConAgra Purchase at Amazon.com

What’s ConAgra? ConAgra is a food company with more than seventy brands. I happen to be munching on David sunflower seeds right now and they’re, yep, a ConAgra food. What else might you have eaten this week made by ConAgra? Did you have some Orville Redenbacher popcorn when you watched that tearjerker movie? How about a SlimJim for an after-school snack? Okay, so nobody will admit to eating SlimJims. Somebody must be since they’re selling over five hundred million a year. I do know that they’re highly requested at AnySoldier.com. Out of curiosity, I went and checked my stash to … Continue reading

Amazon Children’s Book Sale

It’s an addiction. Books, that is. It’s gotten to the point where I’m supposed to give away one book every time I bring another into the house. Supposed to, that is. At today’s Boy Scout rummage sale, I bought a whole shelf load. Of course, I’m justifying it by the price, but I really can’t get enough of books! Maybe it’s better described as a life-long love affair. Books take you to places you’ll never get to visit in person, allow you to think through situations you’d otherwise never encounter, and teach you things you could never have imagined. They … Continue reading

Amazon Prime – Is it Worth It? $50 Grocery Gift Certificate When You Sign Up for Prime

Do you buy a lot from Amazon.com? As online auction fees go higher and higher and sellers pass that along to their customers, we are finding Amazon.com showing up more often on our credit card. The prices are reasonable, and I like knowing exactly what I’m going to pay for shipping before I buy. When I’m buying directly from Amazon, I know that I can get free shipping if I spend $25. It’s rare that I come away from there for less than that. It doesn’t make sense to buy $20 worth of items and pay $25 ($20 + shipping), … Continue reading

Breaking into the Disney Vault

The Disney Vault is famous. We’ve explored the concept of the Vault before, so any of those not in the know can find a primer here. In short: Disney wants to make more money on its movies. They think the value of a film will go up if it’s only available to purchase for a limited time. The Disney Vault has been getting more attention lately as Warner Brothers Studios has just employed a similar concept with another institution: Harry Potter. Despite the fact that “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2” only just became available for purchase four … Continue reading

Free Movie Downloads

When we first got married we did not want to pay the cost for premium movie channels. We rented movies a lot instead. Back then Blockbuster video was the place to rent videos and the rental card we had earned rewards too. We have had premium movie channels off and on throughout our marriage. The original programming was always more entertaining than the movies offered. The best package we had was when we were with Verizon FiOS and had on-demand movies and television shows. My sister and I watched old movies all weekend the first time she visited us in … Continue reading

The Power of the Press Release: Understanding Its Potential

Press releases are perhaps the most valuable tool for garnering “free” press and publicity any business can employ. I put free in quotes because nothing is ever truly free, is it? You do have to invest time in writing and distributing press releases. (This is assuming you’re doing it yourself. If you hire out, well, then it’s definitely not free.) But that’s the beauty of press releases. They allow you to save money on marketing while potentially netting huge results because you can do it yourself. “Sounds nice, but they wouldn’t work for me.” I used to think that too. … Continue reading

High School Musical Board Game for only $5.99

Once in awhile there’s a movie that the whole family really enjoys, from my young-for-her-age 11 year old to my 40-something “particular” husband. With a family that appreciates music, Disney’s High School Musical is one such movie. We recorded it on the TiVO and it’s been replayed several times. No, the plot isn’t very deep, but there’s something about Zac Efron that’s just so likeable! I predict he’s going to end up a huge star for years to come. If your family likes the movie as much as ours does, you might be interested in the High School Musical Board … Continue reading
